Improved R-wave detection for enhanced cardiac Gating using an MRI-compatible 12-lead ECG and multi-channel analysis

چکیده
Background An important requirement for successful cardiac MRI is accurate gating. However, obtaining proper Electrocardiogram (ECG) gating inside the MRI is a difficult problem, due to the Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic (MHD) effect, resulting in frequent intermittent gating. The MHD effect generates a voltage due to conductive blood flow perpendicular to B0, and distorts the real ECG. Intermittent gating also occurs when arrhythmia patients incur several events of arrhythmia between their sinus rhythm (SR) beats, resulting in blurred images. We hypothesized that a novel real-time 3-D gating method could accurately detect the QRS complex, even in difficult cases, such as with Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVCS), non-stable heart rate (atrial fibrillation, exercise), imaged at both 1.5 and 3T MRIs.

Morphology-matching-based R-wave detection for noise-robust ECG gating
Background Accurate ECG R-wave detection is crucial for cardiac gating in MRI. However, in high-field MRI systems, it is hard to detect R-waves in ECG signals accurately, because the amplitude of the ECG signal may be smaller than that of the noise induced by the MRI system. To overcome this issue, existing studies have focused on (a) acquiring additional ECG signals or on (b) improving the R-w...
متن کاملImproved cardiac gating at 3T with the “3D-QRS” method utilizing MRI-compatible 12-lead ECGs
Background Blood is rapidly ejected from the left ventricle during early systole, travels in the aortic arch perpendicular to the MRI’s main field, thus generating a Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) voltage which is larger than the real ECG QRS complex in high field MRI. The MHD voltage (VMHD) is severally irregular in patients with arrhythmia, since arrhythmic ECG beats are interleaved between succes...

Background High fidelity 12-lead ECG is important for physiological monitoring during cardiovascular interventions. A dominant ECG R-wave is essential for synchronizing cardiac MRI. Obtaining the real ECG in MRI is challenging due to a superimposed Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic (MHD) voltage (VMHD) [1], & strong induced voltages from MRI switched gradients. Detecting acute ischemia by ST segment [2] is...

The meaning of the hypertropy word is the increasing size.Heart hypertropy is symptoms of increase the thickness of the heart muscle that the left ventricular hypertrophy of them is the most common. The causes of hypertrophy heart disease are high blood pressure , aortic valve stenosis and sport activities respectively. Assessment of that by using ECG signal analysis is essential Because the ris...
متن کاملReal-ECG extraction and stroke volume from MR-Compatible 12-lead ECGs; testing during stress, in PVC and in AF patients
Background Due to the Magneto-Hydro-Dynamic (MHD) effect, blood flow within the MRI’s magnetic field (B0) produces a large voltage during the S-T cardiac segment [1]. The peak MHD voltage (VMHD) can be comparable, in higher-field MRIs, to the R-wave amplitude of the real Electrocardiogram (ECGreal), so that VMHD reduces ECG-gating reliability and prevents ischemia-monitoring during cardiac imag...
